Three lessons we learned building a global SaaS company
The three partners in Metrics Venture previously served in the leadership team at Mintra, a global SaaS company with more than 3 million users.
1. Focus beats everything else
Growth accelerated once we committed to a single repeatable model and stopped pursuing opportunities outside the core. Saying no became a more valuable discipline than any new initiative we could say yes to.
2. The network effect became the real growth engine
Scale materialized when large customers required their suppliers to use Mintra, strengthened by an open platform that allowed anyone to integrate. Each new customer increased the product’s value for the next, turning adoption into a self-reinforcing flywheel rather than a sales-driven effort.
3. You don’t have PMF until the market pulls you forward
We achieved true product–market fit when we focused on mandatory regulatory requirements and opened the platform for broad integrations. These integrations made the system indispensable, and demand began pulling us instead of us pushing the market.
